New Tata Safari Facelift – More Details Emerge

Tata Motors is preparing to give major updates to its existing SUVs including the Nexon, Harrier and Safari. All three SUVs in new avatars have already been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads. Going by the spy images, it is visible that the New Tata Safari facelift will receive significantly revised design and interior.

Design Changes

Tata Harrier Electric front

The new Tata Safari facelift will share styling cues from the Harrier EV concept that debuted at the 2023 Auto Expo. The SUV will come with a completely revised front fascia, featuring a split LED headlamp setup. It has full width LED daytime running lamp that streches across the bonnet. It has a new trapezoidal shaped headlamp cluster placed vertically on the lower bumper. The bumper has been completely revised to accomodate new design highlights including a new grille with horizontal slats.

The side profile will remain the same, except for the new set of alloy wheels. At the back, the 2023 Tata Safari is expected to get connected LED tail-lamps, new tailgate and a revised rear bumper.

The central console will be dominated by a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. The SUV is likely to get a new two-spoke steering wheel, which will also be offered on the new Nexon and the Curvv SUV Coupe.

Powertrain

The new Safari will continue to be powered by a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine that churns out 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. It is also likely to get a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 170bhp and 280Nm of torque. This engine could be mated to a dual-clutch automatic or a 6-speed torque convertor.

Launch Timeline

The new Tata Safari is expected to be launched before the end of this year or early next year. It is estimated to cost around Rs 16 lakh to Rs 26 lakh. The SUV will rival the MG Hector Plus, Mahindra XUV700 and the Hyundai Alcazar.
