Royal Enfield is galloping its way ahead of the competition with models like the Meteor 350, Classic 350, Himalayan, Super Meteor 650, Interceptor 650, and Continental GT 650. With an aim to further increase its market share, the Chennai-based bikemaker has planned at least 13 new bikes that will arrive over the next few years. The company has confirmed that its new motorcycles will be introduced in a phased manner, with four models per year in the next 3-4 years. There will be two new bikes based on the 350cc platform, five bikes on the 450cc platform, and six new models on the 650cc platform. Read: Royal Enfield Classic 650 – What to Expect?
Speaking about the 350cc segment, Royal Enfield will bring in the new-generation Bullet 350 and a new 350 bobber. The RE 350cc bobber will essentially be a lighter and more affordable variant of the Classic 350. Previously, the bike was spotted with a single-piece seat, and this time around, its test mule was seen with a two-seat set. The cantilevered pillion seat is fixed just above the rear fender. Compared to its 350cc sibling, the new Royal Enfield 350cc bobber has a smaller subframe.
While the front end appears exactly similar to the RE Classic 350, the rear section extends only up to the rear shock absorber mounts. The 350 bobber features highly raised handlebars. Design elements such as the round headlamp, fuel tank, and shrouded telescopic fork suspension are borrowed from the Classic 350.
Powering the new RE bobber will be a 349cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine producing approximately 20bhp and 27Nm of torque. The same motor powers the Classic and Meteor 350, and it is claimed to be more refined and reliable with fewer vibrations.
Who will be its rival? Whenever the bike goes on sale, it will directly compete with the Jawa 42 Bobber and Jawa Perak. Both of its competitors are priced around Rs 2 lakh (ex-showroom). Royal Enfield’s new 350cc bobber is expected to be priced more or less similarly to the Classic 350, which is available within the price range of Rs 1.90 lakh – Rs 2.21 lakh (ex-showroom).
