2024 Toyota C-HR Gains Power With PHVE – Edgy Styling

The Japanese automaker previewed the second-generation Toyota C-HR via the Prologue concept in December 2022. Now, it’s time to see its production version in a flash. The crossover’s new model has been designed and developed in Europe, where it will go on sale in the first half of 2024. The 2024 Toyota C-HR has evolved significantly in terms of design, proposition, and powertrain. While retaining the sporty essence of its predecessor, it now features a dual-tone color scheme and 20-inch alloy wheels. With better integration of sensors, cameras, and headlight washers, the carmaker has reduced panel gaps and improved aerodynamics.

The new 2024 Toyota C-HR measures 4360mm in length, 1830mm in width, and 1558mm-1564mm in height. Compared to its predecessor, the new model is significantly wider, though the overall length remains unchanged. In fact, the crossover continues to sit on a 2640mm long wheelbase.

Inside the cabin, it features a connected 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster. The higher trim level gets a JBL sound system, HUD (head-up display), a panoramic sunroof, and 64-color ambient lighting. The new GR Sport Premiere Edition receives a sporty red treatment inside and out, along with the GR badge.

In Europe, the 2024 Toyota C-HR will be offered only with a hybrid powertrain. The 140bhp, 1.8L, and 198bhp, 2.0L plug-in hybrid versions will come with a FWD setup, while the 223bhp, 2.0L hybrid model will have an optional AWD system.

Toyota’s future plan for India:

It’s important to note that Toyota’s Indian arm (TKM – Toyota Kirloskar Motor) does not plan to bring the C-HR here. This year, the company plans to introduce the Maruti Suzuki Fronx-based micro SUV. Toyota’s version of the Fronx will witness a few cosmetic changes that could be inspired by the Europe-spec Toyota Yaris Cross. TKM is also working on a 7-seater SUV that will be based on the Innova Hycross’ TNGA-C modular platform. Essentially, it will be the three-row version of the Toyota Corolla Cross. The new-generation Toyota Fortuner with hybrid powertrain and advanced tech is also in the pipeline.
