Romanian coachbuilding company Romturingi has created a pickup based on the new-gen Duster

We informed you earlier that Renault will launch the new-generation Duster SUV in India in late 2019. Interestingly, the French automaker’s low-cost brand – Dacia is also considering a pick-up based on the new Duster. Though the pick-up truck is yet to take final shape, Romanian coachbuilding company Romturingi has created a pickup based on the new-gen Duster.

For people not in the know, the first-ever Duster Pickup was developed by Romturingia in October 2014. This pickup was developed exclusively for a major fleet customer. Later, Renault came out with its own Duster Oroch pickup for South America. At the 2018 IAA Hannover Commercial Vehicle Show, Romturingia had revealed a prototype of the 2018 Duster pickup. While the original Duster Oroch had a crew cab with four doors, the new Duster pickup from Romanian coachbuilder follows the footsteps of its predecessor and is a 2-door cab with a longer bed.

The pickup looks quite real and could easily pass as a factory-made model. It comes with a regular 2-door cab and a bed lined with a damage resistant material. Till B-pillar, the SUV looks exactly similar to the European Dacia Duster. Everything from the B-pillar is completely modified. This model is powered by a 1.5-litre dCi turbodiesel engine that is capable of producing 108bhp and 248Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to all-4 wheels via an on-demand 4WD system. While Renault is yet to make an official announcement on the new-gen Duster pick-up, this Romanian coach-builder version could enter into production for feel buyers in near future.
