The British automaker will soon expand the MG Hector and MG Gloster SUV model lineups in the country. While the former will receive a new mid-level Shine variant, the latter one will get a Savvy 7-seater variant. Dispatch of new variants has already been commenced and their launch is likely to happen in coming days. In the model lineup, the new MG Hector Shine will sit between Super and Smart trims. Official feature details of the new model are yet to be revealed by the company. Though, the report suggests that it might miss out on the iSmart technology, WiFi connectivity, wireless phone charging and tyre pressure monitor.
The new MG Hector Shine trim could be packed with goodies such as leather wrapped steering wheel, leather upholstery, tilt and telescopic steering adjustment, a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, anti-pinch power windows, auto day/night IRVM, engine start/stop button, cruise control, rear parking camera and 4 airbags.
The new Hector Shine trim will be offered with both 1.5L turbo petrol and 2.0L diesel engine options. While a 6-speed manual gearbox will be standard, while DCT and CVT automatic transmissions will be exclusively available with the turbo-petrol variants.
The new MG Gloster Savvy will be the range-topping variant with 7-seats layout. It will be more affordable than the Savvy 6-seater that costs Rs 36.88 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV is currently available with a 2.0L diesel engine in single turbo and twin turbo versions offering power worth 161bhp with 375Nm and 215bhp with 480Nm respectively. Both motors are paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The 4X4 drivetrain system is reserved for the twin-turbo diesel variants.
In other updates, the British carmaker is ready to challenge the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos with the new MG Astor SUV. It’s essentially the petrol iteration of the MG ZS EV that’s expected to be offered with the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.3L turbo petrol engine options.
