After the massive slowdown due to COVID-19 pandemic, auto industry in India has been witnessing a positive growth in the month of July 2021. There is a significant increase in sales of cars and bikes in July. Maruti Suzuki retains the pole position in the top-selling car manufacturer list, followed by Hyundai and Tata Motors.
Maruti Suzuki
Maruti Suzuki has recorded a positive growth of 50.33 percent in July 2021 when compared to the same month last year. The company sold 1,62,462 units as compared to 1,08,064 units in July 2021. Maruti’s entry-level cars including Alto and S-Presso accounts for 19,685 units, while the B-segment hatchbacks and sedans including Swift twins, Ignis, Baleno, and Dzire accounts for 70,268 units. Maruti Suzuki UVs such as Brezza, S-Cross, Ertiga, XL6 and Gypsy combined sales stand at 32,272.
Hyundai Motors
Hyundai sold 48,042 units in July 2021 as against 38,200 units in the same month last year. The company recorded a year-on-year growth of 25.76 percent, while the month-on-month growth stands at 18.63 percent.
Tata Motors
The homegrown passenger vehicle maker recorded a massive growth of 101% in July 2021 when compared to the same month last year. The company sold 30,185 units last month. Tata Motors is currently selling the Tiago, Tigor, Altroz, Nexon, Nexon EV, Harrier and Safari.
Honda Cars India
Honda sold 6,055 units in July 2021 as against 5,383 units in the same month last year, recording a year-on-year growth of 12.4%. The company aims to further increase sales by introducing the Amaze facelift and the City hybrid in 2021.
Toyota
Toyota recorded a total sales of 13,105 units in July 2021, recording a year-on-year growth of 143%. The company had delivered 5,386 units in the same month last year.
Mahindra & Mahindra
India’s UV maker, Mahindra & Mahindra sold 21,046 UVs in the month of July 2021, which is almost double it sold in the same month last year – 11,025 units sold in July 2020. The company will soon launch the XUV700 7-seater SUV, Bolero Neo Plus 9-seater and the next-gen Scorpio in the Indian market.
Kia India
Kia Motors has sold over 1 lakh cars in India this year. In July 2021, Kia total sales stand at 15,016 units. The company sold 7,675 units of Sonet, 6,938 units of the Seltos and 358 units of Carnival MPV in India.
MG Motors
MG Motors recorded a positive growth of 101% in the month of July 2021. The company sold 4,225 units in last month, which is almost double when compared to the same month last year. In July 2020, MG Had sold 2,105 units. The company recorded a month-on-month growth of 18.7%.
Nissa India
Thanks to the new Magnite compact SUV, Nissan India recorded a total sales of 4,259 units in July 2021. In the same month last year, Nissan had sold only 784 units in India.
Skoda India
Skoda India has officially announced that the Kushaq mid-sized SUV has received around 6,000 bookings since its launch on June 28, 2021. The Skoda Kushaq currently commands a waiting period of up to two months, depending on variant, city and colors. Skoda India has recorded an impressive 234 percent growth when compared to July 2020. Skoda Auto India has sold 3,080 cars in July 2021 as against 922 cars in July last year.
