The Indo-Japanese automaker will foray into the 7-seater SUV segment with a new model based on the Grand Vitara. The three-row SUV will share its platform, design elements, features and powertrains with its donor sibling. Though, it will be longer and have more cabin space than the Grand Vitara. The carmaker might also make a few design changes to the model. Built on Suzuki’s global C platform, the new Maruti 7-Seater SUV will come with the 1.5L K15C petrol mild hybrid and 1.5L Atkinson cycle strong hybrid powertrain options. The mild hybrid setup returns a claimed power of 103bhp and a mileage of 21.11kmpl with manual gearbox and 19.38kmpl with automatic transmission. The strong hybrid powertrain makes a top power of 115bhp and promises a mileage of 27.97kmpl. Maruti Suzuki’s new Kharkhoda plant will serve as production hub for the upcoming new 7-seater SUV.
