Maruti Suzuki is ready to launch three new UVs (Utility Vehicles) this year including the new-generation Brezza, new Eeco and all-new mid-size SUV. Talking about the all-new SUV, the model is reported to see a market release during 2022 festive season. The new Maruti SUV, which is currently in its testing phase, has been caught on camera multiple times. Recently, its interior pictures have emerged on the web revealing some interesting details. Codenamed Maruti YFG, the SUV will share some of its features the new Baleno premium hatchback.
The new Maruti SUV is likely to come with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit featuring Suzuki’s new SmartPlay Pro Plus interface. It will support both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The info unit will be integrated on a newly-designed dashboard. The SUV’s steering wheel will also be similar to the Baleno offering mounted audio and cruise controls. Features such as a 360 degree parking camera and Head-Up Display (HUD) will also be borrowed from the hatchback.
The list of features might also include a premium audio system, wireless phone charging, electrically adjustable driver’s seats and ORVMs, a digital instrument cluster, a sunroof, connected car tech and ADAD (advanced driver assistance system).
If reports are to be believed, the new Maruti SUV will be offered with two petrol engine – one with mild hybrid tech and one with strong hybrid system. There might be three drive modes – Pure electric, Hybrid and Petrol. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer.
Maruti’s upcoming mid-size will underpin Toyota’s TNGA-B platform and its likely to feature a honeycomb grille, split headlamp setup, dual LED DRLs, LED taillamps and a high ground clearance. Its design is likely to be inspired by Suzuki’s global-spec A-Cross.
Toyota’s Bidadi based facility will serve as production hub for Maruti Suzuki’s new mid-size SUV. Toyota’s upcoming compact SUV will also be manufactured at the same plant. Both models will share platform, features and engines, but look different.
