New Maruti SUV (Under Rs 10 Lakh) – 5 Key Things To Know

Maruti Suzuki is getting ready to add a new model to its Indian product portfolio in early 2023. The carmaker has confirmed that it will showcase three new SUVs at the Delhi Auto Expo in January. The new Maruti Coupe SUV (codenamed – YTB) will be one of the show stoppers at the event. While official name and details of the new Maruti SUV are yet to be revealed, it’s rumoured to be named Maruti Baleno Cross. Here’re 5 key details we know so far about the upcoming new Maruti compact SUV.

Boosterjet Engine

The carmaker’s Boosterjet turbo petrol engine will make a comeback with the new Maruti compact SUV. The motor was first introduced on the top-end Baleno RS that was discontinued with the implementation of the BS6 emission norms. Now, the company will bring it back in the BS6 compliant avatar, churning power worth 102bhp and 150Nm of torque. The motor could be boosted with the mild hybrid tech. The Coupe SUV could also be offered with a naturally aspirated petrol engine and it could be the 1.2L Dualjet or 1.5L Dualjet with mild hybrid tech unit. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer.

Design Inspiration

The Maruti Baleno Cross will carry the brand’s evolved SUV design language as we have seen in the Grand Vitara. It will have more angular stance with split headlamp setup and slim LED DRLs and the signature ‘three-block’ moniker at the top of the bonnet. Some of its design bits will be borrowed from the Baleno hatchback and the Futuro e-Concept that broke cover at the last edition of the Delhi Auto Expo. The new Maruti compact SUV will come with the pronounced wheel arches, raised waistline, alloy wheels, coupe-like roofline and curved rear glass area. Advanced Tech

Maruti Suzuki is likely to pack the new Coupe SUV with advanced goodies. It might come with a new 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, voice commands and Suzuki Connect. The list is likely to include a multi functional steering wheel, a digital console, automatic AC unit, rear AC vents, multiple airbags and more.

Launch Timeline

Official launch date of the new Maruti YTB SUV is yet to be announced. Though, reports suggest that the production ready version of the vehicle will go on sale by April 2023.

Expected Price, Competition

The new Maruti Baleno Cross SUV is expected to be around Rs 8 lakh for the base model and up to Rs 13 lakh for the top-end trim. If launched in this price range, it will take on the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
