New Mahindra XUV700 Teaser Reveals Auto Booster Headlamps

Mahindra is gearing up for the launch of the much-awaited new XUV700 7-seater SUV, which will go on sale in Q3, 2021. The company has started revealing key details about the new Mahindra XUV700 ahead of its possible world premiere in July 2021. A new teaser of the Mahindra XUV700 reveals a feature called ‘Auto Booster Headlamps’.

The video teaser reveals that if the Mahindra XUV700 SUV crosses 80km/h while driving at night, it automatically switches on extra lights for better visibility. This clearly improves the overall safety of the car and passengers during night driving.

Codenamed W601, the new Mahindra XUV700 is based on the new front-wheel-drive monocoque architecture with a provision for all-wheel-drive layout. It is reportedly to be offered in 11 variants in petrol and diesel guise, with manual and automatic gearbox options.

The Mahindra XUV700 will also come with segment-first ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), which offers features like autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, park assist, Lane Departure Warning, forward-collision warning and others. The SUV will get automatic headlamps with integrated LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps). The spied interior images reveal that the new XUV700 will come with Mercedes-like dual-screen setup – one for the infotainment & the other one for the instrument console. The SUV will get smartphone connectivity, connected car tech, dual-zone climate control, an electronic parking brake, hill hold, and a panoramic sunroof. It will get 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat and 6-way adjustable co-occupant seat.

The new XUV700 will be offered with two engine options – a 2.0L mStallion turbocharged petrol and a 2.2L turbocharged diesel. While the former can produce upto 188bhp and 380Nm, the oil burner is likely to offer around 185bhp of power. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The SUV could also receive a mild hybrid system, which will make it compliant with the upcoming stringent CAFE 2 (Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency) norm. The new CAFE II norms will come into effect in 2022 and the BS6 Stage II norms are set to come into force beginning April 2023.
