If reports are to be believed, the new Mahindra XUV700 7-seater SUV will make global debut in July 2021. The SUV is currently in its final testing phase. The XUV700 was earlier planned to be launched in the first half of 2021; however, the launch has been delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic and global shortage of semi-conductor chips.

Inside the cabin

The new-gen Mahindra XUV700 7-seater SUV comes with all-new feature-loaded and premium cabin. Spy images confirm that the SUV will have a clean and clutter-free dashboard, dominated by a large dual-screen layout similar to the one offered in the Mercedes models.  The one screen for the infotainment and the other one for the instrument console. Other features will include smartphone connectivity, connected car tech, dual-zone climate control, an electronic parking brake, hill hold, and a panoramic sunroof.

The new XUV700 will come equipped with power adjustable front seats. It is reportedly to get 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat and 6-way adjustable co-occupant seat. The higher variants will have leather-wrapped dashboard, leather seats and leather finished gear knob, armrest and steering wheel.

The new model will be offered in 6-and 7-seat layout. While the six-seater will get captain seats in the middle row, the 7-seater will have a bench-style seat in the middle row.

Segment-leading ADAS

The new Mahindra XUV700 will come equipped with segment-first ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). Mahindra had joined hands with South Korean Mando company to source ADAS. The SUV will receive, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Park Assist.

Engine Options

The Mahindra XUV700 will come in two engine options – a 2.0-litre mStallion turbocharged petrol and a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel. The petrol engine is capable of producing 188bhp of power and 380Nm of torque. On the other hand, the diesel engine is expected to produce around 185bhp of power. These engines currently powers the second generation Thar, albeit in a lower state of tune. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

It is expected that the new XUV700 could come with a mild-hybrid system. It will make the new model cleaner and fuel efficient. Moreover, this will make the new model compliant with the upcoming stringent CAFE 2 (Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency) norm. The new CAFE II norms will come into effect in 2022 and the BS6 Stage II norms are set to come into force beginning April 2023.
