New Mahindra Thar Prices Increased – Here’s the Updated List

With the introductory offer now over, the new Mahindra Thar’s prices have been increased in the country. The launch prices of the off-road SUV were only valid till 7thth January. One must note that the updated prices are effective from 8th January 2021 for all fresh bookings.

Now, the entry-level AX (O ) petrol manual Convertible variant is available at Rs 12.10 lakh and the fully-loaded LX 2.2L diesel automatic Convertible/Hardtop costs Rs 14.05 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. The carmaker has already confirmed that the new Thar has been booked till May, 2021.

At present, the model is observing a waiting period of up to 7 months. With an aim to reduce its waiting period, Mahindra is planning to manufacture 3,000 units on monthly basis from January, 2021.

2020 Mahindra Thar Price List

The fully-loaded variant of the new Thar has been attracting maximum customers. The off-road SUV gathered over 20,000 bookings in a short span of time and over 57% bookings came from the first time buyers. Deliveries of the new Mahindra Thar 2020 were commenced during the Diwali season.

With quality body-built and better safety quotient, the off-road managed to score 4 star safety rating in the latest Global NCAP. In offset frontal crash test, it secured 4 stars for adult occupant protection. The SUV’s bodyshell was stable and capable of “withstanding further loadings”. However, the footwell area was rated unstable.

The new Mahindra Thar witnessed significant changes inside and out. Though, the major change comes in the form of the new 2.0L mStallion turbo petrol engine that makes 152bhp with 300Nm of torque with the manual gearbox and 320Nm with the automatic transmission.

The diesel model uses a 2.2L turbocharged engine delivering power worth 132bhp and 300Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and automatic. The SUV offers 4X4 system and a manual-shift transfer case with a low ratio as standard feature.
