Pratap Bose, Chief Design Officer at Mahindra & Mahindra, has released the first teaser of the upcoming new Mahindra SUV. The teaser shows silhouette of the model with pronounced wheel arches, straight roofline, upright windshield and a hunchback rear section. It appears similar to the Mahindra BE.05 EV concept, which was unveiled on 15th August 2022. The electric SUV concept measures 4370mm in length, 1900mm in width and 1635mm in height with a wheelbase of 2775mm.
The Mahindra BE.05 EV concept features angular C-shaped headlamps, prominent airdams, side glossy black cladding, squared off wheel arches, flush door handles, a sloping roofline, sharply designed rear bumper and C-shaped taillamps. The teased new Mahindra SUV could be the brand’s upcoming Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara rival. Just so you know, the carmaker had confirmed that the new-generation Mahindra XUV500 will be introduced as Creta rival.
In the company’s product lineup, the all-new Mahindra XUV500 (codenamed – S301) will sit above the XUV300 and below the XUV700. It will share its platform with the XUV700 and designed by Mahindra Automotive Design Europe (M.A.D.E) team headed by Pratap Bose. Engine setup of the SUV might include a 1.2L turbo petrol and a 1.5L diesel unit, borrowed from the Mahindra XUV300 subcompact SUV. The carmaker is expected to pack the new XUV500 with advanced features including a large touchscreen infotainment system, ADAS (advanced driver assistance system), premium audio system, electric sunroof, multiple airbags and more.
As of now, the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed unveiling date and details of the new SUV. It’s expected to be revealed in the second half of 2023. Prices of the new Mahindra SUV are likely to start from Rs 10 lakh for the base model and go up to Rs 17 lakh for the top-end variant. Hyundai Creta and Maruti Grand Vitara are currently available within the price range of Rs 10.44 lakh – Rs 18.24 lakh and Rs 10.45 lakh – Rs 19.49 lakh respectively.
