Mahindra has recently unveiled the new-gen Thar lifestyle SUV, which is scheduled to be launched on October 2, 2020. The company has released multiple videos showing the capabilities of the new Thar. Interestingly, one such video features a mysterious SUV on test. The spotted model seems smaller than the XUV300, which suggests that it could be the next-gen Mahindra KUV100 NXT.
Exact details about the new product are yet to be announced. The company could also introduce an all-new micro SUV to replace the existing KUV100. The new SUV could be positioned against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the upcoming Tata HBX concept based micro SUV.
Mahindra has already announced that its entry-level SUV will be offered in petrol version only. The KUV100 NXT is powered by Mahindra’s 1.2-litre mFalcon G80 petrol engine that churns out 82PS of power and 115Nm of torque. The SUV could also receive modern day features such as touchscreen infotainment system, automatic AC, multi-functional steering wheel, and dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and others.
The SUV was caught for few seconds and it is hard to get any detail on the possible design. Mahindra has already announced that they have no plans to enter into any new segment where it does not have a competitive advantage. The brand is currently focusing on its existing line-up, which makes us believe that this could be the upgraded or the new-gen KUV100.
The company is also working on the petrol powered Marazzo MPV, which is expected to be launched in the end of this year or early next year. Mahindra will also launch the next-gen XUV500 and the next-gen Scorpio in the first half of 2021.
