New Kia Carnival Facelift Design To Be Inspired By EV9

Kia Motor has started testing the new Carnival facelift in South Korea. Recently, a test mule of the luxury MPV was caught on camera with a heavy camouflage covering its front and rear design details. If reports are to be believed, the new Kia Carnival facelift design changes could be inspired by the upcoming Kia EV9. The headlamp design and shape might be similar to the electric SUV. Unlike the current model, the new one will have vertically positioned headlights.

One can also notice an LED light bar. Comprehensive changes are expected to be made at its rear profile. As of now, interior details of the new Kia Carnival facelift are not available. Though, it’s likely to get some new connectivity features and comfort goodies.

Major update is likely to be made under the hood. The MPV’s updated version is expected to share hybrid powertrain with the Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento. That means, it could be offered with the 1.6L, 4-cylinder turbo engine (177bhp/265Nm) and a 59bhp, electric motor. Its combined power and torque figures stand at 227bhp and 350Nm respectively. While the new Sorento and Santa Fe are available with AWD (all-wheel drive) system, the Carnival hybrid will be offered with the FWD (front-wheel drive) setup only.

In India, the South Korean automaker will showcase the fourth-generation Kia Carnival at the 2023 Auto Expo. Its market launch is reported to happen by April 2023. The MPV comes with the dual-tone Beige and Brown interior theme with an all-new dashboard with rood trim and two 12.3-inch displays (one for the infotainment system and one for the instrument cluster). Noticeable changes have also been made to its exterior.

Here, the 2023 Kia Carnival will continue to be offered with the existing 2.2L diesel engine. The motor delivers a maximum power of 200bhp and 440Nm of torque. Transmission duties will be done by an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
