The Korean automaker, Kia is all set to unveil a wide range of its global products at the 2023 Auto Expo. A new media report claims that the company will showcase the three-row Sorento SUV at the 16th edition of Indian Auto Expo. The fourth-gen Kia Sorento is based on the new Hyundai Santa Fe platform and rivals the Jeep Meridian and the Skoda Kodiaq.
Kia is yet to make an official announcement on the launch of the 3-row Sorento SUV. By showcasing the SUV at the Auto Expo, the Korean automaker is aiming to gauge customer interest in the 7-seater SUV. For people not in the know, Kia had showcased the previous generation Sorento at the Auto Expo in 2018.
Kia Sorento 3-row Engine Options
The Kia Sorento 7-seater SUV is available with a range of petrol and diesel engine options. It features a new 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine that is paired to a 44.2kW (60hp) electric motor, which draws power from a 1.49kWh lithium-ion battery. The hybrid engine is capable of producing 230bhp and 350Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The regular petrol version gets a 2.5-litre turbo engine producing 191bhp and 246Nm of torque, and is paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions are on offer.
The Sorento 3-row SUV is also available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain comprising of a 1.6L petrol engine and a 13.68kWh battery. The combined power and torque stands at 261bhp and 350Nm respectively. This variant only offered with a 6-speed automatic gearbox & AWD set-up. It is claimed to offer an electric-only range of 57km. The diesel version gets a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine that produces 202bhp and 440Nm. Power is transmitted to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Design & Interior
Based on Kia’s signature styling, the new Sorento 3-row SUV comes with a bolder styling. The SUV comes with Kia’s signature tiger nose front grille, flanked by a 3-pod LED headlamps with ‘tiger eyeline’ LED daytime running lights. The SUV has an aggressive front bumper that accommodates a large central air intake. The SUV comes with flared wheel arches, vertical LED tail-lights and a sharply sculpted tailgate at the rear.
The cabin design of the new Kia Sorento resembles the global Kia SUVs including the Sonet. It comes with a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity, vertical air-con vents and a HVAC controls positioned below the infotainment unit. There is a 12.3-inch digital instrument console, which is connected to the infotainment screen. In terms of features, the SUV gets UVO connected car tech, 64-color ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, 360 degree cameras, and a 12-speaker Bose sound system. The SUV also gets ADAS with Level 2 autonomous driving technology. The ADAS features include adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, lane keeping assist, and others.
