The fourth-generation Kia Carnival, which was first unveiled in June 2020, is now ready to make its India debut at the Delhi Auto Expo in January, 2023. According to a latest media report, the carmaker has imported the new Carnival MPV and Sorento SUV at its Andhra Pradesh based facility. Both models are expected be here for the mega automotive event. However, there is no official word on the same or on their India launch.
In global markets, the new Kia Carnival has been offered with three engine options – a 3.5L V6 MPi petrol, a new 2.2L Smartstream and a 3.5L GDi V6 Smartstream. While the 3.5L petrol unit delivers 268bhp with 332Nm, the 2.2L and 3.5L Smartstream motors offer 290bhp with 355Nm and 199bhp with 440Nm respectively. If launched in the India, the MPV is expected to come with the existing 2.2L diesel engine that’s good enough for 200bhp and 440Nm. It an 8-speed automatic gearbox for performing transmission duties.
Major changes have been inside and out. The new Kia Carnival sits on a wheelbase of 3,090mm, which is 30mm longer than its current model. With a longer wheelbase, the MPV ensures more cabin space. Its overall length and width have also been increased. Inside, it has a dual-tone Beige and Brown theme with an all-new dashboard with wood trim and two 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment system and instrument cluster. There is a new steering wheel and touch-sensitive buttons for infotainment and climate control on the centre console.
The all-new Carnival continues to come with the multi-zone climate control, powered sliding rear doors and dual sunroof setup. Globally, it’s offered in three seat configuration options – 7, 9 and 11. Its 7-seater version offers reclining captain seats with along with the USB charging ports built into the front seatbacks and a storage drawer built into the rear console.
