New Jeep 7-Seater SUV Caught With Production-Ready Body

The new Jeep 7-seater SUV is scheduled to be introduced globally in the second half of this year. The SUV has been caught testing multiple times, and this time the new Jeep SUV with 7 seats snapped with its production-ready body. Internally called the Project 598, the new SUV is longer, taller and wider than the Compass.

Codenamed “Low D”, the 7-seater SUV will mark Jeep’s entry into the “D” segment which is currently dominated by the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. The new model is based on the modified version of the Small Wide 4×4 platform. The platform is modified to accommodate longer wheelbase and for rigidity.

Jeep 7-seater SUV Spied Production-Ready

The new 7-seater Jeep SUV will have a larger wheelbase to add extra seats. The major changes will be made to the rear three quarter, and the gain in length will be increased from the “B” column. The height of the SUV will be significantly higher compared to Compass. For cost reduction, the 7-seater SUV will share the parts with the 5-seater model. The front design and engine specs will also be shared with the Compass.

The report claims that the 7-seater SUV will also share interior panels with the Compass. However, the SUV will have all new dashboard design and a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity and connected car tech.

The spy image reveals that the rear profile of the Jeep 7-seater SUV will have flatter design instead of rounded profile in the Compass. The rear window is also larger to give airy feel. The “C” column will come with a larger glass area. The SUV will have new headlamps and bumpers.

Name Reveal on April 4, 2021

The new Jeep 7-seater SUV is scheduled to be launched in the second half of 2021. The SUV name will be revealed on April 4, 2021. For people not in the know, Jeep considers 4th of April as the 4×4 day.

Engine Specifications

The new Jeep 7-seater SUV will be powered by a 2.0-litre MultiJet II diesel engine that also powers the Compass. While powering the Compass, this engine produces 173bhp and 350Nm. The 7-seater version will receive a twin-turbocharged version of the engine, which is likely to produce close to 200bhp and over 400Nm of torque. It will be paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission.
