New-Gen Suzuki Swift To Make Global Debut In Mid-2022

Japanese automaker, Suzuki has recently revealed the new generation Alto for the home market. The company is also working on the new-gen Swift and the Swift Sport, which will be introduced in the next 1-2 years. A new media report claims that the new-gen Suzuki Swift will make global debut in mid-2022.

Moreover, the next generation Swift Sport will also be introduced in 2023. The new-gen Suzuki Swift will be based on the modified version of the HEARTECT platform that also underpins the current generation model. However, the new model is expected to offer better safety during collision. The current Swift secured 0 star in the LATIN NCAP, as the platform was found unstable.

The new model will come with an evolutionary styling. The overall profile will remain the same; however, it will have more aggressive design. The hatchback will have aggressive front fascia with blacked-out grille, slimmer headlamps with LED DRLs and new mulit-spoke alloys. Similar to the current model, the rear-door handles in the new-gen Swift is expected to be integrated in the C-pillar. Expect new model to have strong beltline that runs across the length to merge the wrap-around tail-lights.

It is expected that the India-spec model will have similar design and features. The company would have made several changes to the interior and is expected to be equipped with better quality plastic. The new model is likely to be powered by a new refined version of the 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine with hybrid system. It is likely to get a stronger hybrid system, which should improve the overall fuel efficiency. The India-spec Swift is offered with a 82bhp, 1.2L NA petrol and a 89bhp, 1.2L Dual-Jet petrol engine with SHVS mild hybrid system.

The next-gen Swift Sport will receive a 1.4-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which will be benefitted with a 48V mild hybrid tech. The engine could be tuned to offer up to 160PS of power from the current 140PS in the Japanese-spec model. The addition of 48V motor is likely to improve low-speed torque as well as fuel efficiency.
