New-Gen Suzuki Swift To Launch In Japan In Q2, 2023

Japanese automaker, Suzuki has started testing the next generation Swift hatchback on the European roads. If reports are to be believed, the new-gen Suzuki Swift will be introduced in Japan in Spring 2023 (April to June). Maruti Suzuki is also working on the new Swift, which is reportedly to be launched sometime in 2023 or early 2024. The new model could be unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo; however, Maruti Suzuki is yet to make an official announcement.

Suzuki is also developing the new Swift Sport, which is expected to be introduced in Japan sometime in 2024. The new model will be based on the modified version of the Suzuki’s HEARTECT platform that underpins the new Baleno hatchback. Spy images reveal that the new-gen Suzuki Swift will receive significant design change; however, the overall silhouette will remain the same. The spotted model was heavily camouflaged; however, it shows the newly-designed front grille and sleeker headlamps with new LED elements.

2022 Maruti Swift Features

The new-gen Suzuki Swift comes with revised front bumper, new C-shaped air splitters with fog lamp clusters, new body panels, blacked-out pillars, faux air vents on wheel arches and a roof-mounted spoiler. The new model will come with better quality interior along with high-end features like a larger infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, Suzuki voice assist and OTA (over-the-air updates).

The biggest update for the India-spec Swift will come in the form of new hybrid engine. Codenamed YED, the new-gen Suzuki Swift will be fitted with the new 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol engine boosted with Toyota’s strong hybrid technology. It is reportedly to offer a mileage of around 35-40kmpl (ARAI certified). The new model will also meet the upcoming CAFE II (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) standards. The lower variants will continue to be offered with the 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine with manual and AMT gearbox options.
