New-Gen Renault Duster – New Interesting Details Emerge

The French carmaker will give a generation change to its highly popular Renault Duster SUV in coming years. While there is no official word on its launch timeline, the new model is reported to arrive in 2022 or 2023. The third-generation Duster will underpin the global platform instead of the low-cost CMF-A architecture that’s used in the newly-launched Renault Kiger subcompact SUV. A latest report claims that the SUV will share its underpinnings with the Dacia Bigster concept.

The new Renault Duster will be the part of the Group’s new strategy under which the Dacia brand will develop the global B and C segment vehicle for the Group. It will include models from Renault, Dacia and Lada. The French carmaker is planning to expand its global portfolio with 14 new models by 2025. The plan outlines 7 vehicles in C and D segment and 7 electric cars. The new products are likely to contribute to 45% of sales for Renault by 2025.

Besides platform, the new Renault Duster might share some of its design bits with the Dacia Bigster concept. The latter one carries uniquely designed Y-shaped headlamps, LED lighting system, a flat roof line, prominent wheel arches and muscular haunches. The carmaker says that the Bigster’s exterior panels are made from raw recycled plastics. The model might be offered with the hybrid powertrain and alternative-energy options.

The new Duster might be made available with 5 and 7-seats layouts. If it happens, the 5-seater version will take on Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta and the 7-seater model will rival MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari and the new-generation Mahindra XUV500. The new XUV500 is due for the second half of 2021.

In other updates, the Renault Triber turbo is slated to launch sometime next year. The model will come with a 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine that also powers the newly-launched Kiger. The French carmaker will also introduce the Renault Kwid electric hatchback that uses a 26.8kWh battery pack and a 44bhp, electric motor.
