We informed you earlier that the next-gen Renault Duster and the Nissan Kicks will be based on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-B platform. The company had introduced the second generation Duster in the global markets. This model is based on the decade old BO platform that also underpins the Nissan Kicks in India. Renault hasn’t launched the second generation Duster in India.
It was reported that Renault will produce the third generation Duster SUV in India. It is expected to be introduced by 2022-23. Renault’s low-cost brand, Dacia has released a new Bigster Concept which previews the new flagship SUV. This SUV will be positioned above the Duster in the company’s global product lineup. The Bigster Concept is also designed and developed on the Renault-Nissan-Alliance’s CMF-B platform.
It is expected that the next-gen Renault Duster could be inspired by the Bigster concept. Renault-Nissan-Mitsubushi Alliance had confirmed that the CMF-B platform will be used to make 7 products including two hatchbacks, two sedans and 3 SUVs. The SUV range is likely to include the next-gen Kicks, Duster and the Captur.
Measuring 4.6 meters in length, the Dacia Bigster Concept features rugged look. It features chunky bumpers, uniquely designed Y-shaped headlamps, LED lighting system, pronounced wheel arches, a flat roof line and muscular haunches. The SUV gets a slim front grille, Y-shaped LED tail-lamps and large 5-spoke alloy wheels.
Renault will soon introduce the all-new Kiger sub-4 meter SUV, which is based on the CMF-A modular platform. This platform also underpins the Triber MPV and the Nissan Magnite compact SUV. The Kiger will be offered with a 1.0-litre petrol engine in naturally-aspirated and turbocharged versions. The French automaker is also reportedly working on a sub-4 meter sedan based on this platform.
