Maruti Suzuki is yet to reveal the launch date of the new generation Celerio hatchback in India. A new media report claims that the new-gen Maruti Celerio tall-boy hatchback will be launched in our market on November 10, 2021. The small hatchback was planned to be launched in mid-2021; however, the launch delayed due to COVID-19 Pandemic and semi-conductor chips shortage.
The new-gen Maruti Celerio has already been spotted testing numerous times. In fact, the hatch was caught fully undisguised during its official TVC shoot – revealing most of the design upgrades. It will grow in size, which should allow MSIL to create more room inside the cabin. The hatchback gets all-new styling with inspiration from Maruti Baleno and other Maruti cars.
The new-gen Maruti Celerio will be based on the lightweight HEARTECT platform that also underpins the new S-Presso and the WagonR. It gets all-new front fascia with a revised oval grille in a honeycomb pattern. There is a chrome slat that runs across the centre of the grille. Design highlights include a big bulbous headlamps, a new bumper that has a small airdam and large round fog lamps, a large window area, a long tapering roofline and new blacked-out wheels. The hatchback also gets new tail-lamps, and ORVMs with integrated blinkers.
The interior of the new-gen Maruti Celerio will be simple as well as functional. It will also get some high-end features, which was missing in the previous model. The hatch will get a dashboard integrated 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. It will also get a new instrument console (likely to be sourced from new WagonR), a multi-functional steering wheel and new upholstery.
It will come with two petrol engines – a 1.0L 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated and a 1.2L 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated. While the former is good for 69bhp and 91Nm of torque, the later is good for 82bhp and 113Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit. The company will also introduce the new Celerio with a factory-fitted CNG kit.
