New 2023 Kia Sonet Launch Timeline – To Rival Updated Nexon

The Kia Sonet subcompact SUV has been generating strong sales for the South Korean automaker since its debut in 2020. The model received its first minor update in 2021, and now it’s ready to receive more comprehensive updates. We have seen the new 2023 Kia Sonet facelift with heavy semi-camouflage in multiple spy videos and images. It is getting ready to make its debut in the coming months, followed by a market launch towards the end of this year. The latest set of spy images reveals intriguing new design details. The spotted prototype appears to be the HTX or HTX+ variant, and the reason we assume so is due to the newly designed 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, body-colored door handles, and grey body side claddings. The model also features a camera fitted on the lower section of the bonnet and front parking sensors. However, the biggest highlight of the new Sonet will be the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) that will offer around 7-8 features. The ADAS suite will be reserved for the higher trims.

Furthermore, the new 2023 Kia Sonet facelift will offer 6 airbags, ABS coupled with EBD, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, front and rear parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and hill start assist control. Its dashboard will be revised to feature a dual-screen setup working as an infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. The infotainment unit is likely to have a better screen resolution and user interface. The new Sonet could also borrow the 360-degree camera and a dashcam from the Hyundai Exter mini SUV.

Stepping into the limelight as the 2024 model year, the new Kia Sonet features a newly designed grille, revised headlamp clusters, and new L-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs) extending into the lower bumper. The front bumper itself undergoes refinements. The updated Sonet GT variant will come with new alloys with red brake calipers, redesigned LED taillights, and a tweaked rear bumper with a different dual-tone treatment.

Mechanical prowess appears to be retained. The new 2024 Kia Sonet facelift is anticipated to come with the same 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.0L turbo petrol, and 1.5L diesel engine options. Output specifications remain at 83bhp for the 1.2L NA, 120bhp for the 1.0L turbocharged gasoline engine, and 115bhp for the diesel iteration.
