After CNG, Tata Punch To Go Electric – Spied With Front Charging Slot

After launching the Punch CNG, Tata Motors is now ready to launch the Punch EV in the country this year. The new Punch EV is expected to be launched before the end of 2023. The sub-4 meter electric SUV has been spotted at a public EV station.

The charging port is placed on the front bumper, positioned beneath the grille. It has become the brand’s first model to have a charging slot on the front bumper. Other than this, the overall styling of the Punch electric appears similar to the regular petrol version. Earlier test mules reveal that the Tata Punch electric will come with disc brakes on all four wheels. It is also expected to receive a newly styled alloy wheel.

The cabin of the new Punch EV looks similar to the Tiago EV. It gets the typical 3-spoke steering wheel, a new digital instrument console, a free-standing touchscreen infotainment screen with connectivity features, and AC vents with blue surrounds. The small SUV is also likely to get an electronic parking brake, armrest and a jewel rotary gear selector dial. However, the spotted model gets Tiago EV like rotary knob and a manual hand brake.

The Tata Punch EV is based on Tata’s Gen 2 EV architecture, which is basically the heavily modified ALFA platform. It is most likely to feature Tata’s Ziptron powertrain, featuring a liquid-cooled battery and a permanent magnet synchronous motor powering the front wheels. Similar to other Tata’s EV, the Punch EV is likely to come with different battery sizes. To be positioned above the Tiago EV, the Tata Punch EV will rival the Citroen eC3. It is likely to be priced somewhere between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 14 lakh.
