Hyundai Exter – Sunroof Variants In Great Demand

Hyundai Motor India entered the micro SUV segment just a month ago with the Exter. With competitive pricing, the model directly competes against the Tata Punch. It is available in five trims – EX, S, SX, SX (O), and SX (O) Connect – priced between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 8.97 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). In its first month on the market, the Hyundai Exter achieved total sales of 7,000 units. Read – Hyundai Exter Electric Testing Begins In India

The carmaker has recently revealed that the micro SUV has received over 50,000 bookings since the booking windows were opened. Interestingly, variants equipped with sunroofs account for 75 percent of the total bookings. Notably, the top three trims of the Exter feature a single-pane electric sunroof. More than one-third of the bookings are for the AMT variants, which are priced within the range of Rs 7.97 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.

Hyundai Exter Vs Tata Punch

The Hyundai Exter is powered by a single 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces a claimed power of 83hp and 114Nm of peak torque. This engine is the same one found in other Hyundai models like the Grand i10 Nios, i20, and Venue. The micro SUV offers the choice between a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMT. Its CNG version delivers 69hp and 95.2Nm of torque, available with the manual gearbox only.

Except for the entry-level E trim, all variants of the Exter offer both manual and AMT gearbox options. The CNG kit is available on the mid-spec S and SX trims, priced at Rs 8.24 lakh and Rs 8.97 lakh, respectively. The SX trims with AMT exclusively feature paddle shifters. Hyundai states that the Exter manual and AMT versions achieve a mileage of 19.4kmpl and 19.2kmpl, respectively, while the CNG version offers a fuel economy of 27.10km/kg.
