New 2023 Hyundai Verna Prices, Variants, Features Explained

The long wait for the new-generation Hyundai Verna is finally over, as the South Korean automaker has launched the sedan in the country. It’s being offered in four trims – EX, S, S and SX (O) – and with two petrol engines – 1.5L naturally aspirated and 1.5L turbo. While the NA petrol variants come within the price range of Rs 10.89 lakh – Rs 16.19 lakh, the turbo-petrol variants cost between Rs 14.83 lakh – Rs 17.37 lakh. One must note that the all aforementioned prices are introductory, ex-showroom.

At this price point, the new 2023 Hyundai Verna directly takes on the Honda City, Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Vitrus and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

Petrol Engines, Gearbox Options

The entry-level EX and S variants are available with 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol motor that’s good enough for 113.4bhp and 144Nm. It can be had with a 6-speed manual or an iVT gearbox. The turbo-petrol engine is being offered on the higher S and SX (O) trims with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. The unit returns a claimed power of 158bhp and 253Nm of torque. Mileage

The naturally aspirated motor delivers a claimed mileage of 18.60kmpl (MT) and 19.60kmpl (iVT). The turbo-petrol offers a fuel efficiency of 20kmpl (MT) and 20.20kmpl (DCT).

Feature Upgrades

The carmaker has packed the new 2023 Hyundai Verna with some of segment-first features such as a dual-display – one for the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and one for the digital driver’s display, 8-speaker Bose sound system, new touch-based climate control panel, driver adjustable power seat and ventilated and heated front seats. It also gets a new 2-spoke steering wheel with mounted audio and cruise controls, wireless phone charger, dual-tone beige and black interior, leather upholstery, 64 ambient colour lighting and 65+ BlueLink connected features. ADAS

Major feature highlight of the new Verna is the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) tech. The suite offers 17 advanced safety features including adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward collision warning, blind spot collision avoidance assist, lane keep assist, lane following assist, lane departure warning, leading vehicle departure alert, high beam assist and rear cross traffic collision avoidance assist.

In fact, the new Hyundai Verna 2023 offers a range of safety fitments right from 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill start assist, front and rear parking sensors to tyre pressure monitor, electronic parking brake, lane change indicators and keyless entry. The carmaker says that it has a total of 65 safety features (30 standard).

Bigger & More Spacious

Compared to its previous generation, the new 2023 Hyundai Verna is bigger and more spacious. Its overall length, width and height stand at 4535mm, 1765mm and 1475mm respectively. Sitting on a 2670mm of wheelbase, the sedan offers ample cabin space and a boot space of 528-litres.

The new Verna is 17mm wider and more spacious than its arch rival – Honda City. The latter is 1748mm wide and has a luggage capacity of 506-litres. The sedan offers several utility spaces such as multi purpose console, multi bottle holder, phone holder, a wider trunk opening and glovebox cooling.

Improved Design

On the exterior, the new 2023 Hyundai Verna features the brand’s new signature grille, turn indicators placed below the triple-barrel LED reflector headlamps, LED light bar running across its hood and ORVM and door handles in silver finish. The sedan comes in nine colour options including Altas White, Typhoon Silver, Fiery Red, Tellurian Brown, Starry Night, Titan Gray and Abyss Black. The Atlas White dual-tone and Firey Red dual-tone paint schemes are reserved for the turbo-petrol variants.
