2022 Mahindra Scorpio Petrol 4X4 Is Being Considered; Debut In June

The third-generation Mahindra Scorpio is inches closer to its market launch. In order to create excitement among buyers, the company has started dropping teaser videos of the SUV’s new model. The new Scorpio is likely to make its debut next month (i.e. June 2022). Significant changes will be made to its exterior, interior, engine mechanism and underpinning. The new 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will come with the new 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L diesel engines, sourced from the XUV700. There will be two gearboxes on offer – 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic.

According to a fresh media report, Mahindra & Mahindra will offer 4X4 drivetrain with both petrol and diesel variants of the new Scorpio. Until now, the 4X4 system was available with diesel engine only. The new-generation model can be had with either 6-seats or 7-seats configuration. For the first time, the Scorpio will get front facing bench seats in the middle row. The SUV will grown in size and sit on a longer wheelbase to ensure more cabin space.

Similar to the XUV700, the new 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will have dual-tone (Black and Brown) interior theme. It will get a larger touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. There will be a digital analogue instrument cluster. Several new goodies will make their way to the new Scorpio including a 360 degree camera, Head-Up Display (HUD), sunroof, roof-mounted speakers, flat-bottom steering, vehicle telematics, rear disc brake, cruise control, reverse camera, multiple airbags, etc. Read: 2023 Mahindra XUV300 Facelift – More Power, Upmarket

Compared to the current generation model, the new one will surely be more expensive. At present, the SUV comes in 6 variants – S3+, S3+ 9-seater, S5, S7, S9 and S11 – cost Rs 13.54 lakh, Rs 13.54 lakh, Rs 14.29 lakh, Rs 16.64 lakh, Rs 17.30 lakh and Rs 18.62 lakh respectively. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom.
