MG Hector Plus (Innova, Gravitas Rival) – New Details Emerge

The long-awaited MG Hector Plus will officially go on sale in the country in the first half of July 2020. Unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo, the Hector Plus SUV will rival the Toyota Innova Crysta and the upcoming Tata Gravitas. The upcoming SUV will be offered in 6 and 7-seat versions. A new media report claims that the upcoming six-seater version will come in 3 variants, while the 7-seater model to come in a single variant.

The six-seat MG Hector Plus is reportedly to come in 3 variants – Super, Smart and Sharp. On the other hand, the 7-seater version is likely to come in the single Style variant. Production of the SUV has already been started at the SAIC’s production facility in Halol, Gujarat. In fact, dealer-level bookings have also been started; however, MG Motors is yet to announce official commencement of pre-bookings of the Hector Plus. Also See – MG Hector Plus Vs Innova Crysta

MG Hector Plus Hands Free Tailgate

The MG Hector Plus is close to 50mm longer than the 5-seater Hector, though the wheelbase remains the same. The SUV also receives design changes, which makes it look slightly different and better than the 5-seater Hector. In terms of styling, the SUV receives new front grille, new slimmer LED headlamps with DRLs and new lower bumper and air-intake. The side profile remains the same. At the back, the SUV gets differently designed tail-lamps and slightly revised lower bumper.

The boot space of the MG Hector Plus is reduced to 156-litres, while the 5-seater model has a luggage carrying capacity of 587-litres. Inside the cabin, the six-seater SUV receives captain seats for the second row. The seven-seater model will feature a bench-type seat for the second row. The new model also gets ‘Leg Swipe’ boot opening system, which opens the tailgate by waving a foot below the rear bumper. This handsfree tailgate is one of the big differences between the Hector Plus and the Hector, as the latter misses out on this feature.

MG Hector Plus Launch Date

It is expected that the MG Hector Plus will come in a single 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine paired to a six-speed manual gearbox. This engine is capable of producing 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. The company could also introduce the petrol version, which will have a 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine with manual gearbox and DCT options.
