Nissan Africa, Middle East and India (AMI) have announced its next four-year plan for the region under its Global Transformation plan. With the new strategy, the Japanese carmaker aims to achieve sustainable growth, financial stability and profitability by the end of fiscal year 2023. The company will focus on two aspects – rationalization and prioritization. The former includes optimization of product portfolio by 20%, improve cost competitiveness of local facilities and export opportunities from AMI plants.
Under its prioritization strategy, the company will focus on expanding its regional product lineup, introduce advanced technologies and strengthen its market. The Japanese carmaker has confirmed that it will launch 8 new models in AMI region including a B-SUV for the Indian market. As we are aware, the Indian arm of the Japanese carmaker is ready to foray into the subcompact SUV space with the all-new Nissan Magnite.
The compact SUV, which was slated to launch in coming August, is now reported to arrive in January, 2021. In the issued press release, the company has also mentioned that it will focus on SUVs and affordable sedans. There might be a possibility that Nissan might consider a B-segment sedan for the Indian market. If launched, the new Nissan subcompact sedan will be put up against the cars like Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Hyundai Aura. It might be developed jointly by Nissan and Renault India.
