MG Hector Sales Declined In July – Updated Model Coming Soon

MG Motor India has announced that it sold 4,013 units in July 2022. The carmaker witnessed a YoY (year-on-year) sales decline of 5.02 percent compared to 4,225 units of the same month previous year. Currently, the company has five models in its Indian product portfolio – Hector, Hector Plus, Astor, Gloster and ZS EV. MG Hector remains the top-selling SUV from the British automaker in the country. In an official statement, MG says that it continues to deal with supply chain and production issues.

During this Diwali season, the company will introduce the updated version the MG Hector SUV. One of the major updates are likely to come in the form of the Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance system). It includes features such as lane departure warning, forward collision warning, blind spot detection and rear cross traffic alert. The ADAS suite could be reserved for the range-topping Savvy trim. The new 2022 MG Hector facelift might also get AI (artificial intelligent) assist as we have seen in the Astor SUV.

The SUV is likely to get an updated digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment system with better user interface. The feature list will continue to include a 360 degree view camera, a panoramic sunroof, four-way electrically adjustable co-driver seat, 6-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, keyless entry, 8 speaker audio system, a 7.0-inch MID, PU-leather upholstery, tyre pressure monitoring system, rear parking camera and more.

Under the hood, the new 2022 MG Hector is likely to feature the same 1.5L turbo petrol and 2.0L diesel engines making 141bhp and 168bhp respectively. The gasoline unit also comes with the mild hybrid tech. There will be two gearboxes on offer – a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic.
