Toyota has announced that it has sold a total of 19,693 units, the highest ever wholesales clocked by the manufacturer in a single month ever since its inception in India. The company has reported a growth of 50 per cent when compared to its wholesales in the corresponding period last year.
Toyota had sold 13,105 vehicles in July 2021. TKM also registered a growth of 19% over its wholesales of 16,500 units sold in June 2022.
Expressing his thoughts, Mr. Atul Sood, Associate Vice President, Sales, and Strategic Marketing, TKM said, “The month of July has been phenomenal for the company. Both in terms of sales as well as our endeavor towards “mass electrification” in India, as we unveiled the first self-charging strong hybrid electric vehicle in the high volume B SUV segment- the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The response to the model has been exceptional, especially the customer’s choice for strong hybrids, further reiterating Toyota’s global prowess when it comes to the manufacturing and sales of electrified vehicles worldwide. We are humbled by such an encouraging response and would like to thank our customers for placing their trust in the brand.
In June 2022, Toyota had also registered its highest ever wholesales in a single month, ever since the Japanese automaker started operations in India. The company is currently selling the Innova Crysta, Fortuner and the Legender SUV. Adding to it, Toyota is also selling the re-badged Baleno and the Brezza, called the Glanza and the Urban Cruiser in the market. The company claims that “the Camry Hybrid and the Vellfire too, continue to garner healthy customer orders”.
Toyota will launch the much-awaited Urban Cruiser Hyryder compact SUV on August 16, 2022. It will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, VW Taigun and the Skoda Kushaq. The new model will be offered with two engine options – a 1.5-litre petrol with a mild hybrid system and a 3-cylinder, 1.5-litre TNGA Atkinson cycle engine with a strong hybrid tech.
