MG Motor has released the first official video teaser of the much-awaited Gloster premium SUV. The video teaser shows MG’s India journey and the upcoming 7-seater SUV with tagline “Next-Gen Automotive Technology.” Unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo, the upcoming MG Gloster will be launched during festive season, before Diwali.
Measuring above 5 meters in length, the Gloster SUV will be MG Motor’ flagship model in the Indian market. It is expected to be priced around Rs 40 lakh. The MG Gloster SUV will be assembled at MG’s Halol based plant. The video teaser suggests that the new Gloster comes with several next-gen technologies like automotive braking, Collision avoidance system and many more.
In terms of proportions, the MG Gloster is the biggest SUV in its category. It is 5,005mm long, 1,932mm wide and 1,875mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2.,950mm. The SUV is equipped with several high-end comfort and convenience features such as 8-inch MID, triple zone climate control, leather seats and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected car technology. The SUV’s electrically adjustable front seats offer heating, ventilation and massage functions. For safety and security, the SUV gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, ESP, hill hold and descent controls, 360 degree camera, front and rear parking camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, etc.
The MG Gloster is a re-badged version of the Maxus D90 SUV, which is on sale in the Chinese market. It is expected that the SUV will be powered by a new 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine, which is based on the FCA’s 2.0L MJD II turbocharged diesel unit. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 218bhp and a peak torque of 480Nm. Both manual and automatic versions will be on offer.
