MG Comet 4-Seater Compact EV – India’s Smallest Car

MG Motor India has officially revealed India’s smallest four-seater electric vehicle, the Comet EV. This 4-seater compact electric vehicle will go on sale in our market on 26th April, 2023. It is basically the rebadged version of the Wuling Air EV, which is currently on sale in the Indonesian market. 

The MG Comet EV is a compact electric vehicle, featuring boxy design elements. The front fascia features an LED light bar that runs across the width of the car. The main headlamp unit is placed vertically on the lower bumper. The MG Comet has an upright and a tallboy silhouette, and it rides on newly designed 12-inch wheels. At the back, the new MG Comet EV has a high-mounted stop lamp, vertically stacked tail-amps, and a flat rear bumper with a licensing plate housing. The charging port is placed in the middle of the front fascia under the MG Branding.

The MG Comet EV will be offered in 3 colour options – Aurora Silver, Candy White and Apple Green. The Candy white colour option also comes with an option of a black roof, while the Apple Green is offered with a dual-tone option only. 

The MG Comet EV’s cabin is identical to the Wuling Air. It features a dual-tone interior scheme with a single pane screen that accommodates a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a digital driver display. The infotainment unit comes with a host of “advanced features, intuitive controls, and seamless connectivity that lend Comet a gadget feel”. There are physical rotary controls for the air con vents. It also gets a two-spoke steering wheel with Apple iPod-like buttons for controls.

The small EV gets wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, 55+ connected car features, manual air-conditioning, keyless entry with push button start, 50:50 split rear seats, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, TPMS, reverse camera and others. 

It is expected to feature a 17.3kWh battery pack and a front-axle mounted electric motor. The power and torque output stands at 42PS and 110Nm respectively. It takes around 7 hours to fully charge the battery using a 3.3kW charger. The new model is claimed to offer a range of 230km on a single charge.
