MG Comet EV’s Dashboard With Two Big Screens – More Details

After teasing the steering wheel, MG Motor India has revealed the dashboard layout of the soon-to-be-launched MG Comet EV. The new compact 2-door electric vehicle is scheduled to make its India debut on April 19. The cabin design appears identical to the one offered in the Wuling Air EV, which is on sale in select international markets.

The MG Comet has a dual-tone interior scheme with a single pan screen that accommodates a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a digital driver display. The infotainment unit comes with a host of “advanced features, intuitive controls, and seamless connectivity that lend Comet a gadget feel”.

The infotainment unit is equipped with widgets of different dimensions with 3 fully customizable pages. It is claimed to offer a range of entertainment, navigation and connectivity options to customers. This unit also supports voice commands, which makes it easier for drivers to access preferred features without taking eyes off the road.

The new MG Comet EV measures around 2.9 meters in length, which will make it the smallest EV in the country. It is essentially the rebadged Wuling Air EV that’s retailed in Indonesia. In terms of proportions, the new Comet EV is 1505mm in length, 1631mm in width and 2010mm in height. The new Comet EV will be assembled locally with over 60 percent localisation level. Estimated to be priced around Rs 9 lakh – 12 lakh, the new MG Comet EV will rival the likes of the Tata Tiago EV and the Citroen C3 EV.

The new model is designed and developed on SAIC’s Global Small Electric Vehicle (GSEV) platform, which will also underpin multiple EVs in future. The compact electric car comes fitted with a front-axle motor, which draws power from a 17.3kWh battery pack. The electric motor is claimed to have an output of 40bhp and an estimated range of around 200-250km. The battery can be fully charged in 8.5 hours.
