MG Motor India will showcase the updated Hector SUV and the 2-door Air EV at the 2023 Auto Expo in January. At the biennial event, the company will also unveil the MG 4 EV that recently achieved 5-star safety rating in the Euro NCAP crash test. The electric car scored 83 per cent for adult occupant protection, 80 per cent for child occupant protection, 75 per cent for pedestrian protection and 78 per cent for safety assist systems.
The tested model was equipped with safety features such as front, side head, side chest and side pelvis airbags, seatbelt pretensioner, seatbelt loadlimiter and seatbelt reminder. The global-spec version of the electric hatchback comes with several advanced safety fitments including driver attention alert, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, active emergency braking, high beam assist, speed limit assist.
Besides advanced safety equipment, the MG electric hatchback offers connected car technology with OTA updates, ventilated front seats, a 360 degree camera, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, wireless charging, all LED lighting and more goodies.
Based on SAIC’s modular Scalable Platform (MSP) platform, the MG 4 EV measures 4287mm in length, 1836mm in width and 1506mm in height. The electric hatchback sits on a 2705mm long wheelbase. Talking about its powertrain, the model is globally offered with the 51kWh and 64kWh battery pack options delivering power worth 170bhp and 203bhp respectively. Both versions have a single-motor, RWD system and offer a maximum torque of 250Nm.
One can fully charge its 52kWh and 64kWh batteries via a 7kW AC fast charger in 7.5 hours and 9 hours respectively. These can also be juiced up from 10 to 80 percent in 35 minutes and 39 minutes by using a 150kW DC charger. The carmaker says that the MG 4 electric hatchback offers a range of up to 350km with the smaller battery pack and 452km with the larger battery pack (on the WLTP cycle).
