The most powerful AMG – Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series – has finally touched the Indian grounds. It’s also the fastest series production car on the Nurburgring-Nordschleife circuit. The performance coupe comes with a base price of Rs 5.50 crore (ex-showroom). Only 2 units of the AMG GT Black Series will be imported to India from Affalterbach. The first unit were handed over to the known Bengaluru-based businessman – Boopesh Reddy – who is popular for his swanky car collection.
Under the hood, the new Mercedes AMG GT Black Series employs a 4.0L V8 biturbo engine featuring a flat crankshaft and a revised cylinder firing to enhance its throttle response and power delivery. It also gets a larger intercooler and turbos along with a new exhaust. The motor produces a claimed power of 730bhp between 6700rpm – 6900rpm and 800Nm of torque at 2000rpm – 6000rpm. It takes 3.2 seconds to achieve 0 to 100kmph and less than 9 seconds to do 200kmph with a top speed of 325kmph.
Transmission duties are done by a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which updated to provide better shift times and handle extra torque. Features such as AMG traction control, AMG coil-over suspension with AMG ride control adaptive adjustable damping and AMG ceramic high performance compound braking system further enhance its performance.

The AMG coupe receives several aerodynamic upgrades such as a newly-designed front bumper with a bigger apron, a manually adjustable rear wing and splitter, a carbon fibre roof and a new carbon fibre bonnet with vents. The AMG 10-soke forged wheels in matt black comes as standard shood with 19-inch front and 20-inch rear tyres. The new Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series comes in High-Tech Silver Metallic and AMG Magma Beam finish options.
Inside, the new AMG GT Black Series features an exclusive Nappa leather microfibre upholstery in black with orange top stitching and matt black carbon fibre trim. It also gets AMG Performance steering wheel in DINAMICA microfibre with AMG steering wheel buttons and badge with Black Series lettering.
