Maruti Suzuki is all set to bring back the Alto K10 nameplate in the Indian market. The new-gen 2022 Maruti Alto K10 is scheduled to be launched in the country on 18th August 2022. It will be sold alongside the new-gen Maruti Alto, which will also go on sale on the August 18. Ahead of the official launch, several details including the variants, features, dimensions and engine options of the new Alto have been leaked on the Internet.
2022 Maruti Alto K10 Details
Adding to it, the clear exterior and interior images of the 2022 Maruti Alto K10 have also been leaked on the Internet. The leaked info reveals that the new Alto will be offered 4 trim levels – STD, LXI, VXI and VXI+ – and in total of 12 variants (8 manual and 4 automatic). The manual variants include STD, STD (O), LXI, LXI(O), VXI, VXI(O), VXI+ and VXI+ (O), while the automatic range includes VXI, VXI(O), VXI+ and VXI+ (O).
The new-gen Alto is designed and developed on the new HEARTECT modular platform that underpins the Maruti S-Presso, Celerio and the Swift hatchback. In terms of proportions, the new Alto K10 is 3,530mm long, 1,490mm wide and 1,520mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,380mm. It has a gross weight of 1,150kgs. Compared to the current model, the new Alto is around 85mm longer and 45mm taller and has 20mm bigger wheelbase.
The 2022 Maruti K10 looks significantly bigger than the outgoing model. The new model shares several design highlights with the new Celerio hatchback. It gets a larger hexagonal front grille and bigger bulbous headlamps, and newly styled bumper with thinner air-dam. The leaked images show steel wheels with new wheel covers, relatively flat roof, blacked-out ORVMs, body-coloured door handles, etc.
The rear too shares the styling cues from the Celerio hatchback. The top-spec model has chrome highlights on the window line, chrome treatment on the lower bumper and chrome strip on the lower door handles. It comes with a roof integrated spoiler and wrap-around tail-lamps with chrome treatment. The new-gen Alto K10 will be offered in 6 colour options – Solid White, Silky Silver, Granite Grey, Earth Gold, Speedy Blue and Sizzling Red.
2022 Maruti Alto K10 Interior
Major changes are also visible inside the cabin as well. It comes with new upholstery, an all-new dashboard design and new instrument console. The top-spec model comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The vehicle will also come with electrically adjustable ORVMs, front power windows, remote key, manual air-conditioning, steering mounted audio controls, etc. For safety and security, the hatchback will get dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seat belt reminder and speed alert.
New Alto Engine & Gearbox
The new-gen Alto hatchback will be powered by a new 998cc, naturally-aspirated K10C petrol engine that produces 66bhp of power at 5,500rpm and a peak torque of 89Nm at 3,500rpm. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission). The regular Alto could get the existing 796cc 3-cylinder F8D petrol engine that produces 47bhp and 69Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels will come as standard.
