Maruti Suzuki’s SUV Sales Increased By 23% – Grand Vitara, Brezza

Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer, registered a strong growth in the last quarter of 2022. The company recorded profit of 23.52 billion rupees ($288.5 million) as opposed to 10.11 billion rupees during the same duration a year ago. As per the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the high demand during festive season and improved availability of semiconductors boosted car sales by up to 23 percent across companies last quarter.

The Indo-Japanese automaker managed to retail 465,911 units in the quarter compared to 430,668 units a year ago. While the compact car segment (that includes Baleno hatch) witnessed a growth of around 17 percent, the sales of SUVs (Grand Vitara and Brezza) increased nearly 23 percent. With the better supply of semiconductors, Maruti Suzuki managed to reduce its pending orders to around 363,000 including 119,000 bookings for the newly-launched models.

Maruti Grand Vitara SUV model lineup is currently available within the price range of Rs 10.45 lakh – Rs 19.65 lakh (all, ex-showroom). It comes in Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Alpha, Zeta+ and Alpha+ trims and a total of 11 variants. Powertrain setup of the new Maruti SUV includes a 103bhp, 1.5L K15C petrol mild hybrid and 92bhp, 1.5L Atkinson cycle petrol unit. While the former can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox, the latter gets an e-CVT unit. Prices of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza start from Rs 7.99 lakh and go up to Rs 13.96 lakh. It’s offered in four trims – Lxi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+ – powered by a 1.5L K15C petrol engine. The motor delivers a claimed power of 103bhp and 137Nm of torque. There are two gearboxes on offer – a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor. The carmaker says that the new Brezza offers a fuel efficiency of 20.15kmpl (MT) and 19.80kmpl (AT).
