India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki has decided to shut its manufacturing facility in Gurgaon Haryana. The company will shift its new manufacturing to a new place as the current place has less scope of expansion.
Maruti Suzuki has decided to shift its manufacturing unit from Gurgaon to a new location in the state of Haryana. The report claims that the Indo-Japanese brand has no plans to move the factory out of Haryana.
The current Maruti Suzuki plant is situated on the Old Delhi-Gurgaon road. Spread over 300 acres, the 39 year old manufacturing unit has a production capacity of around 7 lakh units per annum. With the rising population, the Old-Delhi Gurgaon road and its surrounding areas are now getting crowded with too many residential facilities. This also limited the scope of expanding the current production facility.
Adding to it, the movement of heavy vehicles is also increasing the congestion in the city. Maruti Suzuki is now looking at a new place in the range of 700-1000 acres. Haryana Government has offered three land parcels to Maruti Suzuki. The 1300 acre land at Sohna was cancelled due to high water levels at the site, while Kharkhoda has enough land available.
The government has also offered a 600 acre land in Manesar, which seems to be ideal as Maruti Suzuki already has a plant in Manesar since 2007. Adding to it, the Manesar is one of the largest automobile hubs in India.
