Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors – Sales Report August 2022

Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors have posted an excellent sales growth for the month of August 2022. While MSIL has reported a year-on-year sales growth of 30.02 per cent, Tata Motors posted 68% YoY sales growth in August 2022.

Maruti Suzuki has reported an overwhelming response from buyers in August 2022. Maruti Suzuki has reported a total sale of 1,65,173 units (Domestic + Exports) in August 2022 as against 1,30,669 units in the same month last year. In the first half of FY2022-23, MSIL posted a total sale of 8,09,020 units as against 6,46,775 units in FY 2021-22. In the passenger vehicle segment, MSIL sold 1,34,166 vehicles in August 2022 reporting a year-on-year sales growth of 30.02 per cent. However, MSIL reported a MoM sales decline of 6.08 per cent with 1,42,850 units sold in July 2022.

In the mini segment, MSIL sold 22,162 units of the Alto and the S-Presso in August 2022 as against 20,461 units in the same month last year. In the compact segment (Baleno, Swift, Dzire, Ignis and WagonR), MSIL sold 71,557 vehicles in August 2022 as against 45,577 vehicles in the same month last year.

Maruti Suzuki delivered 1,516 units of the Ciaz in August 2022 as against 2,146 units in August 2021. In the utility vehicle segment (Brezza, Ertiga, S-Cross and the XL6), MSIL sold 26,932 units in August 2022 as against 24,337 units in the same month last year. MSIL sold 11,999 vans last month as against 10,666 vehicles in August 2021.

Tata Motors – 68% Growth

Tata Motors has reported an outstanding sales growth in the month of August 2022. The company sold 43,321 cars in the month of August 2022 as against 26,996 units in the same month last year. In the passenger vehicle ICE category, the company reported a year-on-year sales growth of 60 per cent.

In the passenger vehicle EV category, Tata Motors sold 3,845 electric vehicles in August 2022 as against 1,022 units in the same month last year. It reported a year-on-year sales growth of 276%. The total domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 47,166 units in August 2022 as against 28,018 units in the same month last year.

The company also sold 29,313 commercial vehicles in domestic market in August 2022 as against 26,172 units in the same month last year – reporting a year-on-year sales growth of 12 per cent. The company has also exported 2,178 CVs last month, which is 40 per cent less compared to the August 2021.
