Maruti, Mahindra’s Hyundai Creta Rivals – Fresh Details Out

The competition in the mid-size SUV segment is getting fiercer with the launch of new models. The Hyundai Creta, which is currently dominating the space, will soon receive new rivals from Volkswagen (Taigun) and MG (Astor). In fact, India’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer – Maruti Suzuki – will also foray into the mid-size SUV segment in coming years. While there is no official word on the same, the new Maruti SUV is reported to be developed under Suzuki-Toyota joint venture. Toyota’s Bidadi based facility will serve as production for the SUV.

Recently, the fourth-generation Suzuki Vitara was caught on camera in Gurugram. However, the model is likely to be here for components or engine testing purpose for its new-generation model. The upcoming Maruti Suzuki’s Creta rival is reported to measure around 4.3 meters in length and underpin Toyota’s DNGA (Daihatsu New Global Architecture) modular platform. It would be quite early to comment on its engines. Though, rumours suggest that it could be offered with Suzuki’s 1.5L petrol and turbo petrol powertrains.

Upcoming New Mahindra SUVs

Mahindra & Mahindra has planned a range of new SUVs for our market. One of them will be a Hyundai Creta rival that will be positioned between the XUV300 and XUV700 in the company’s product lineup. According to a media report, the Mahindra V201 (codename) could be the product that might arrive after the Mahindra W620. The latter could be a possible replacement of the Alturas G4.

The report further claims that the Mahindra V201 might also be offered with the electric powertrain. If it happens, the electric iteration of the new Mahindra mid-size SUV will take directly on the MG ZS EV. Speculations are on rife that Mahindra’s Creta rival could be named – Mahindra XUV400 – as the automaker trademarked the nameplate in the country. Earlier reports state that the new-generation Mahindra XUV500 could be introduced as Hyundai Creta rival.

More details on the upcoming Maruti and Mahindra’s Creta rivals are likely to be revealed in near future. Stay tuned to IndiaCarNews.
