Under the hood, there are no changes, with the Maruti Jimny Thunder Edition utilizing the same 1.5-liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, delivering a claimed power of 105bhp and 134Nm of torque. The off-road SUV is offered with two gearbox options – a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque converter automatic. Maruti Suzuki claims a mileage of 16.94kmpl with the manual gearbox and 16.39kmpl with the automatic transmission. Read: New Maruti 7-Seater Premium SUV Launch Timeline

The Jimny’s off-roading capabilities are enhanced by Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD system, featuring a manual transfer case and low-range gearbox with ‘2WD-high,’ ‘4WD-high,’ and ‘4WD-low’ modes. Built on a ladder-frame chassis, the SUV features a 3-link rigid axle suspension, an electronic traction control system, and a ground clearance of 210mm. Its overall length, width and height stand at 3985mm, 1645mm and 1720mm respectively. The SUV sits on a 2590mm long wheelbase.

In the Indian market, the Maruti Jimny doesn’t have a direct rival. However, in terms of pricing and positioning, it competes with the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha, priced between Rs 10.54 lakh – Rs 16.77 lakh and Rs 15.10 lakh, respectively. Both of Jimny’s rivals are expected to introduce 5-door versions in the coming months to compete directly with the Jimny.
