Updated Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter Launching Soon – Details

Bajaj Auto is gearing up to unveil an upgraded version of the Chetak electric scooter lineup in the coming months, according to a recent media report. The new iteration is expected to feature a larger battery, extended range, and additional enhancements. The new Bajaj Chetak is set to be equipped with a 4.25kWh BLDC electric motor, promising enhanced performance and an extended range.

Based on the Premium trim, the upgraded variant will incorporate a larger 3.2kWh battery pack, providing an ARAI-certified range of 126km. Noteworthy additions include a TFT color display, estimated to be around 5-7 inches, offering smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation capabilities.

The report suggests that the new Bajaj Chetak Urban variant might replace the existing Premium trim. Expected to house a 2.9kWh battery pack, it aims to deliver an ARAI-certified range of 113km—5km more than the current model—accompanied by a higher top speed. The dimensions of the scooter will remain unchanged, maintaining a length of 1894mm, width of 725mm, height of 1132mm, and a wheelbase of 1330mm. However, the new Premium variant is anticipated to be approximately 3 kgs lighter.

In additional updates, Bajaj Auto has been conducting tests on a novel bike, speculated to be India’s first CNG-powered motorcycle. A test mule revealed a design inspired by the Bajaj CT, featuring robust bodywork around the tank section and sides, along with a contour-free fuel tank. The bike is likely built on a perimeter frame derived from the Bajaj Pulsar NS125, showcasing a sizable CNG cylinder placed between the perimeter arms. Powered by a 150cc engine coupled with the CNG tank, the bike will include a telescopic fork and a monoshock rear suspension. Reports suggest that the new Bajaj CNG bike will hit roads sometime in 2024.
