Maruti & Hyundai Report Robust Sales In Nov 2023 – SUVs In Demand

Automakers have released their sales number for the month of November 2023. While Mahindra posted a significant YoY sales growth of 31 percent, Tata Motors reported a marginal decline of 1 percent last month. Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai have also released their sales numbers and both makers have posted a YoY sales growth in November 2023.

Maruti Suzuki has reported total sales (domestic + exports) of 1,64,439 units in November 2023, reporting a year-on-year sales growth of 3.4 percent. In the same month last year, MSIL sold 1,59,044 vehicles. However, the brand’s month-on-month sales declined significantly as it reported a total sales of 1,99,217 units in October 2023.

The Alto and the S-Presso combined sales stood at 9,959 units in November 2023 as compared to 18,251 units in the same month last year. In the compact segment (Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S and WagonR), Maruti Suzuki sold 64,679 units last month as compared to 72,844 units in November 2022. The company sold 278 units of the Ciaz mid-sized sedan as compared to 1,554 units in November 2022.

Maruti Suzuki is currently selling the Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, S-Cross and XL6 in the utility vehicle segment. The company sold 49,016 units in the UV segment in November 2023 as against 32,563 units in the same month last year. The company has also sold 10,226 units of the Eeco van in November 2023.

Maruti Suzuki has sold 2,509 units of the Super Carry light commercial vehicle last month. The company has also exported 22,950 vehicles in the month of November 2023. The Sales to other OEM stands at 4,822 units.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd. has registered total sales of 65,801 units in November 2023 as against 64,003 units in the same month last year, reporting a YoY sales growth of 2.08%. In the domestic market, Hyundai sold 49,451 vehicles in November 2023 as against 48,002 units in the same month, reporting a YoY sales growth of 3.01%. The company has exported 16,350 units last month, which also saw a growth of 2.18 per cent.

Hyundai’s SUV line-up contributes to over 60 per cent to overall sales in India. The newly launched Hyundai Exter micro SUV has achieved a major milestone of 1 lakh bookings.
