Maruti Suzuki had started accepting pre-orders for the Jimny 5-door lifestyle SUV in January, on the eve of its global debut at the Auto Expo 2023. The company has received over 31,000 bookings for the new Jimny since its debut. It has been receiving a positive response from buyers, as the waiting period now stretches up to 8 months.
The new Maruti Jimny 5-door is sold exclusively through NEXA dealership network. Interested buyers can book the lifestyle off-roader online or at authorised NEXA dealerships. It is available in two trim levels – Zeta and Alpha – and in total of 6 variants with manual and automatic gearbox options. The manual version is priced between Rs 12.74 lakh and Rs 13.85 lakh, while the automatic range starts at Rs 13.94 lakh and goes up to Rs 15.05 lakh. The top-spec Alpha manual version is in high demand, as most buyers are opting this model.
Powering the new Jimny 5-door is a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine with idle start stop system. This engine is capable of producing 104.8PS and 134.2Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic. It comes fitted with Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4×4 drivetrain as standard. This drivetrain comes with a low-range gearbox and 3-link rigid suspension. It has an approach angle of 36°, a departure angle of 50°, and a break-over angle of 24°. The SUV has a ground clearance of 210mm and a water wading capacity of 300mm.
The 5-door Maruti Jimny gets 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist function, electronic stability program (ESP), brake limited slip differential, hill hold control, hill descent control and others as safety features. It measures 3985mm in length, 1645mm in width and 1720mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2590mm. The SUV gets a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, a semi-digital instrument console, a multi-functional steering wheel, LED headlamps with washer & others.
