The much-awaited Maruti Suzuki Jimny has finally been launched at a starting price of Rs 12.74 lakh (ex-showroom). The off-roader is now available for deliveries starting today across all NEXA showrooms in the country. Bookings for the new SUV were opened at the Auto Expo 2023 and over 30,000 units have been booked so far. The Jimny 5-door already commands a waiting period of around 6 to 7 months.
Maruti Jimny Variant-Wise Prices
The Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door is available in two trim levels – Zeta and Alpha – with automatic and manual transmission options. The manual range starts at Rs 12.74 lakh and goes up to Rs 13.85 lakh, while the automatic version is priced in the range of Rs 13.94 lakh to Rs 15.05 lakh. The company aims to produce 1 lakh units of the Jimny per year, and 1/4th of the total will be reserved for the export markets.
Specifications & Off-Road Credentials
It is based on the rugged body-on-frame chassis and is powered by a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine with Idle Start Stop technology. This engine is capable of producing 104.8PS at 6000rpm and a peak torque of 134.2Nm at 4,000rpm. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic. The manual version is claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 16.94kmpl, while the automatic model delivers 16.39kmpl.
The new Jimny LWB model is fitted with Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4×4 drivetrain with a low-range gearbox and 3-link rigid axle suspension. It has an approach angle of 36°, a departure angle of 50°, and a break-over angle of 24°. The SUV has a ground clearance of 210mm and a water wading capacity of 300mm.
The Jimny’s AllGrip Tech comes with a low-ratio gear that multiplies engine torque and limits speeds, and improves the off-road driving Driver can switch between two-wheel-drive high (2H) and four-wheel-drive high (4H) for off-road conditions. For extreme off-road conditions, the SUV will have four-wheel-drive low (4L).

In terms of safety features, the SUV gets 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist function, electronic stability program (ESP), brake limited slip differential, hill hold control, hill descent control, 3-point emergency locking retractor seatbelts and rear view camera.
In terms of proportions, the Suzuki Jimny is 3985mm long, 1645mm wide and 1720mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2590mm. The SUV is available in 5 single tone and 2 dual-tone colour options – Kinetic Yellow + Bluish Black Roof, Sizzling Red + Bluish Black Roof, Nexa Blue, Bluish Black, Sizzling Red, Granite Grey and Pearl Arctic White. It comes with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, a semi-digital instrument console, a multi-functional steering wheel, LED headlamps with washer, and others.
