Maruti Engage MPV Revealed In New Images; Dispatch Begins

Maruti Suzuki has already revealed its plan to launch a new premium three-row MPV on 5th July 2023. The model will be the first re-badged Toyota from the Indo-Japanese automaker in the country. Called the Maruti Engage, the MPV will be based on the Toyota Innova Hycross that has been generating volume for the Japanese manufacturer. Prior to its official market arrival, the company has begun dispatching the MPV from Toyota’s Bidadi facility. Read – How Much Toyota Innova Hycross For Maruti Suzuki?

It’s clearly visible that the new Maruti Engage has a newly-designed grille with the signature badge placed in the middle. The unit looks exactly similar to the Grand Vitara SUV. While its front bumper is different from the Innova Hycross, its headlamps and alloy wheels remain intact. Save for the Suzuki’s logo and lettering, the rear section might also remain unchanged.

Interior and features of the new Maruti MPV are expected to be similar to the Innova Hycross. It will be the first Maruti Suzuki in India to offer Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). The suite will provide access to safety features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure alert, blind spot monitoring, high beam assist and rear cross traffic alert. Its safety kit will also include 6 airbags, anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution, traction control and electronic stability program.

The Maruti Engage MPV will be built on Toyota’s TNGA-C platform. Its powertrain setup will include the Innova Hycross’ 184bhp, 2.0L Atkinson cycle and 172bhp, 2.0L petrol motor. While the former will come with an e-Drive transmission, the latter will get a CVT automatic gearbox. The MPV will come with the FWD (front-wheel drive) system. Toyota Innova Hycross is claimed to deliver a fuel efficiency of 23.24kmpl with strong hybrid powertrain and 16.13kmpl with non-hybrid unit. The new Maruti MPV is likely to be as frugal as its donor model.
