Indian passenger vehicle industry passed the first month of the calendar year on a very strong note. February 2023 proved to be yet another fruitful month as most car manufacturers recorded positive sales growth. Maruti Suzuki Car Sales
The Indo-Japanese automaker registered sales growth of 5 percent with total sales of 172,321 units in February 2023. In domestic market, the company sold 150,823 units against 137,607 units in the same month last year. In the mini segment (that includes Alto and S-Presso), Maruti Suzuki retailed 21,875 units as opposed to 19,691 units during the corresponding month previous year. In the compact and SUV segments, it manged to sell 79,898 units and 33,550 units respectively. Exports, however, declined to 17,207 units from 24,021 units in February 2022.
Hyundai Car Sales
Hyundai Motor India announced that it recorded sales of 57,851 units as opposed to 53,159 units in the same month in 2022. It registered YoY sales growth of 9 percent. On domestic front, the company sold 47,001 units against 44,050 units (which is up by 7 percent). Hyundai’s export figure stood at 10,850 units. Read – India’s Popular High-Mileage SUVs
Kia Car Sales
In February 2023, Kia sales increased by 35.8 percent with total sales of 24,600 units against 18,121 units during the same period last year. The carmaker has also revealed that the Kia Carens completed its first successful year in India and it managed to retail 76,904 units of the MPV so far. The Sonet and Seltos sales figures stood at 9,836 units and 8,012 units respectively.
MG Car Sales
MG Motor India managed to sell 4,193 units in February 2023 against 4,528 units in the same month previous year. The company reported a sales decline of 7 percent. MG said that the new Hector has been attracting bookings, but “the supply situation of select variants is impacted”.
Toyota Car Sales
With total sales of 15,338 units, Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s sales gone up by 75 percent last month. The carmaker dispatched 8,745 units in the domestic market, thanks to the new Toyota Innova Hycross and Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
