Maruti Grand Vitara Vs Toyota Hyryder – Waiting Period

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder are undoubtedly one of the major new car launches of this year. Both SUVs share platform, design elements, features, components and powertrains. The Indo-Japanese automaker revealed that the Maruti Grand Vitara strong hybrid has been witnessing 43 percent of the total bookings (which is over 60,000). Toyota’s Hyryder has also been receiving overwhelming response from buyers across the country. As bookings keep pouring in for both models, their waiting period has been stretched to several months.

The new Maruti hybrid SUV currently commands a waiting period of around 6 months, depending on the variant and colour. That means if you book it now, deliveries will be made by early 2023. The company has already confirmed that the range-topping strong hybrid Zeta+ and Alpha+ variants are high in-demand. The entry-level mild hybrid variant has also been gathering decent number of bookings.

Prices of the Grand Vitara mild hybrid start at Rs 10.45 lakh for the base Sigma manual 2WD and go up to Rs 16.89 lakh for the Alpha manual AWD variant. The model lineup has two strong hybrid variants – Zeta+ and Alpha+ – that cost Rs 17.99 lakh and Rs 19.49 lakh (all, ex-showroom).

The new Hyryder SUV is witnessing a waiting period of up to 7-8 months on select trims. Similar to the Grand Vitara, the Toyota Hyryder strong hybrid variants are experiencing strong demand in the market. The SUV model lineup includes 8 mild hybrid variants priced from Rs 10.48 lakh to Rs 17.19 lakh. There are three manual 2WD strong hybrid variants – S, V and V – that can be had at Rs 15.11 lakh, Rs 17.49 lakh and Rs 18.99 lakh respectively (all, ex-showroom).

Both SUVs come with the 1.5 K15C mild hybrid and 1.5L TNGA Atkinson cycle strong hybrid powertrain options. While the former makes 103bhp with 137Nm, the latter delivers a combined power output of 114bhp and 122Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic and an e-CVT automatic (strong hybrid only).
